Thanksgiving Decor

Welcome back, friends,

I’m wondering if I’m the only person still thinking about Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday in my favorite season and is low-stress as holidays go. The sights and sounds of fall. It’s the best! Don’t get me wrong, I’m also thinking about Christmas, but I still have menu planning for Thanksgiving.

I’ve been behind on every holiday recently. I barely even decorated for Halloween. Sometimes, it’s so hard, too, now that my son is older. When he was little, seeing his excitement over the holiday changes was worth the extra work. I was doing so well getting my mums in August. I even put out some faux fall branches and changed some pillows and drapes in our living and dining rooms. Just to be clear, I don’t usually change out the drapes. I finally had the ceiling painted after a leaking bathroom issue we finally addressed this past spring - complete gut reno. Do you know how one project becomes six more? Painting the ceiling is such a project. The drapes needed to come down and get cleaned. I wanted to put up linen drapes but needed eight; it seemed ridiculous until I discovered these from Quince. Sold! Anyway, I digress, which is typical for me. To finish decorating, I pulled out some fall candles and added a few pumpkins, and I’m calling it done. What do you do for Thanksgiving, if anything?

With the colors in our room lending themselves so well to fall, it got me thinking about transitioning Thanksgiving into Christmas. I see there still is a lot of love for warm colors again for Christmas. I decided to pull some looks I loved and, with a simple swap, can take you from one holiday to the next.

Starting outside these three looks would make the transition nicely.

I loved this nature-themed look, which was done for Christmas. You could swap out the evergreens in the pots for some mums and hold off on the bells and ribbon until after Thanksgiving if you wanted to change the look up more.

In keeping with this organic theme. I came across this tablescape and thought it would transition nicely from Thanksgiving to Christmas. Swapping out the pumpkins for ornaments in the same earthy colors or adding a deep burgundy red. For the place setting, a pretty Christmas ribbon would complete the transition.

This was another tablescape I came across that would easily transition from Thanksgiving to Christmas. With a quick change in candles and fruit and adding some pinecones and some evergreens, you’ve used the same idea but switched up with seasonal items and didn’t have to stress over what to do.

These would look great on a coffee table, mantle, or buffet.

I also love some simple velvet ribbon on a wall sconce for some understated charm. I know, driving around running errands in the evening, I’ve seen the lights of Christmas trees that are already up. A simple tree with lights and ribbon is a beautiful way to usher in the holiday season at a slower pace and still enjoy Thanksgiving.

Whatever you decide to do, be sure to stop and enjoy Thanksgiving before the rush of Christmas is upon us.
